St. Tammany Library Foundation
A Golf Tournament and Free Library Festival
The St. Tammany Library Foundation presents a unique fund-raiser to benefit the St. Tammany Parish Library. In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the parish library, St. Tammany Library Foundation is holding a golf tournament and free library festival called “Fore! Our Library” on Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Abita Springs Golf Club. http://www.abitagolf.com/ All funds collected will benefit the St. Tammany Library Foundation, a 501 (c3) organization, which provides financial support to the library.
There are three ways to participate in the event.
1. To donate to the library foundation, interested parties may become a sponsor by donating cash or a door prize to this worthy cause.
2. Golfers may participate in the tournament for $100.
3. The public may attend the Free Library Festival. (See details below).

To Play Golf:
Golfers participating in the tournament will check-in beginning at 11:00 a.m. The tournament will officially begin at 1:00 p.m. It will be a 4–person scramble tournament with a shotgun start. The entry fee will be $100 per person or $400 per team of four. There will be several prizes as well as snacks and supper. Teams may register at the Abita Springs Golf Club or at St. Tammany Parish Library Administrative Office at the address below. Checks can be made payable to St. Tammany Library Foundation with “St. Tammany Library Fund” in the memo line.
Free Library Festival (Open to the Public):
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., children’s activities, library service information, and other special guests, including representatives from sports teams will interest, surprise, and entertain all ages. The “Saint’s Experience” (interactive inflatables) as well as other fun will be available for the children. Representatives from the West St. Tammany Friends of the Library and the Friends of the Slidell Library will also join in the fun. Additional features of the festival will include a sky diving performance by tournament sponsor Gold Coast Sky Diving and other surprises. The free library festival is open to the public.
Louisiana author and attorney, J. Michael Veron, will be signing his golf books at the club on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. T & L Golf Magazine calls Mr. Veron "The John Grisham of Golf", and The New Orleans Times-Picayune declared his books a "must read for golf aficionados".
Mr. Veron received his B.A. degree in English Literature from Tulane University, his J.D. degree from Tulane Law School (1974) and his LL.M. from Harvard University Law School, Cambridge, Massachusetts (1976). He presently lives and practices law in Lake Charles, LA.
