Driving Directions: From intersection of U.S. Highway 11 and Louisiana Highway 41 proceed straight (north) 1 mile, turn right into branch parking lot. From intersection of Louisiana Hwy 36 and Louisiana Highway 41, turn right (south) onto Highway 41, proceed 4 miles, and turn left into branch parking lot. From intersection of Interstate 59 and Military Road (Louisiana Highway 1090), turn left from I-59, pass over the interstate, continue 1 mile to reach intersection of U.S. Highway 11 and Louisiana Highway 41 at rail road crossing/traffic light, continue straight 1 mile, turn right into branch parking lot. Services and Collections: Available for public use are 4 personal computers (with Internet), a black & white laser printer ($.10 per page), a black & white photocopier ($.10 per page) and a fax machine for sending and receiving faxes. Pearl River's collection consists of over 25,459 items, including books (regular and large print), magazines, videos, DVDs, audio cassettes and CDs. Branch History: The Pearl River Branch Library opened on June 23, 1950. Throughout the years the branch was located in several rented locations. The present branch was constructed with funds provided by a bond issue approved by St. Tammany Parish voters in the mid 1980's. The branch building was opened during 1987. The contemporary style, 2,000 square foot building was designed by J. Ashley Inabinet and the cost was $192,000. | |
