How to Participate in the Summer Reading Program

Between May 22 and July 7, pick up your reading log at any branch of the St. Tammany Parish Library. Use your reading log to keep track of how much time you spend reading.

Children from Birth to 7 Years Old

If you're not reading on your own yet, ask someone to read aloud to you for at least 12 hours during the summer, within the program timeline.
If you can read on your own, read for at least 12 hours during the summer, within the program timeline. You do not have to read all 12 hours in one day. Read at least 15 minutes a day. Spread out the fun!
You may combine reading on your own and having someone read aloud to you.
Once you've reached your reading goal (on or after June 18) return to the library to collect your certificate of achievement and prize.

Children from 7 to 11 Years Old

Read for at least 12 hours during the summer, within the program timeline. You can read anything you want to read. You do not have to read all 12 hours in one day. Read at least 15 minutes a day. Spread out the fun!
Once you've reached your reading goal (on or after June 18) return to the library to collect your certificate of achievement and prize.

In addition to the above, if you want, you can earn one, two, three or all of the following patches: Mystery, Ghost Stories, Science Fiction, Fantasy.

Go to the Summer Reading Patch Club to sign up online. Keep track of your books online. Earn a patch by reading at least 5 books in the patch's genre category. For each patch you earn, you will have one entry in a raffle for an iPad 2. The drawing will be August 13, 4:00pm.
