Online Safety

The internet can be a fun and exciting tool that you can use to find a seemingly limitless amount of information and entertainment.  But just as you need to remember to be safe when you walk along the sidewalk or ride your bike, you need to remember to be safe when you use the internet. Here are some links to information that may help you and your parents to use the internet safely.

For Children:

  • - one of the "most enduring" sites about online safety.  It has a quiz for kids about online safety.
  • Netsmartz - games and info about online safety, from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

For Adults:

  • Get Net Wise - the Internet Education Foundation offers guidance for parents about online safety for their children.
  • Chat Danger - tips for keeping kids safe while using online media, from Childnet International.
  • K9 Web Protection - this online service provides free filtering for your home computer, controlled by you, the parent.
  • Stay Safe Online - online safety information for parents, from Microsoft Corporation.
  • - Parents can create safe email accounts for their children for a small fee.
