The St. Tammany Parish Library has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to participate in The Big Read. During the month of September, the library invites residents to read The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien and participate in events featuring the book. The Things They Carried is a fictionalized account of the author’s experiences during the Vietnam War. Please join us for one or all of the following events:
Opening Celebration
Our Opening Celebration will kick off The Big Read. The party will feature a keynote address by Lane Carson, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs as well as a presentation of Vietnam Veterans Oral Histories as compiled by Neil Guilbeau of Nicholls State University.
