Author to Present his Book “Louisiana Golfer’s Paradise”
Author R. T. Tulley combines beautiful photographs and detailed information about Louisiana’s Audubon Golf Trail in his new book “Louisiana Golfer’s Paradise: The Audubon Golf Trail.” The book covers all aspects of the Audubon Golf Trail, including information about each golf course, their architects, and descriptions of notable holes. Tulley will present his book and be available for signing as well at the St. Tammany Parish Library Slidell Branch from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 555 Robert Boulevard, Slidell.
Describing his book, R. T. Tulley states “This 204 page hardbound book contains comprehensive information, more than 300 photos taken by myself, and a foreword by David Toms. It is the only book devoted entirely to Louisiana’s own golf trail, one of the earliest of the state golf trails. It also contains an extensive index.”
The Audubon Golf Trail, established in 2001, was one of the first state golf trails in the US. Twelve member golf courses make up the Trail, which are located geographically across the entire state of Louisiana. The courses are independently operated, but The Trail is managed by the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism. Ranging from Louisiana swampland courses to those spread atop rolling wooded hills, the courses of the Trail will challenge and satisfy any golfer. In keeping with its namesake, John J. Audubon, each course serves as a sanctuary to multitudes of indigenous wildlife.
R. T. Tulley is a clinical chemist by training, having undergraduate and graduate degrees in biochemistry from LSU and the University of Texas at Austin, respectively and a doctoral degree in Pathology from the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans. His love for photography and golf course architecture has resulted in his book Louisiana Golfer’s Paradise: The Audubon Golf Trail. Tully is the author of many scientifically-related publications, but this is his first published book of photography.
