Library Offering Introduction to Computers and Internet Class

If you want to learn computer and Internet basics, please join instructor Lane Adkins for an “Introduction to Computers and Internet” class. Students will learn about computer terms and fundamentals as well as basic Internet navigation with a focus on finding online computer and software tutorials. Classes will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at the Covington Library, 310 West 21st Ave., Covington; from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at the Causeway Library, 3457 Hwy. 190, Mandeville; and from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, at the Slidell Library, 555 Robert Blvd., Slidell.

Adkins works for the Louisiana Workforce Commission as a disabled veterans outreach worker, assisting veterans with training and work placement. Adkins states, “Whether you are using social media to stay in touch with family and friends, using online banking to pay bills, or using MS Office to build a customer database for work, understanding computer basics is a must.”

The class is free and open to the public. Participants will use library-owned laptops during class.
Registration is required to guarantee a seat in the class. Non-registrants are not guaranteed a place, but may come to the class to see if there are any available spots once registrants have been seated. Non-registrants will be seated on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Seating space is limited to 10 adults. Please call the library branch hosting the class to register.
