Grow Spring Vegetables from Seed: Tomatoes, Peppers, and More!
ST. TAMMANY - Growing your own vegetable plants is easier than you imagine and opens up a whole world of new colors and tastes. Even those frustrated in the past by attempts to grow from seed will be successful following the recommendations made in this presentation by Dr. Gerald Ballanco. These same techniques can also be used to grow annual flower seedlings at a fraction of the cost of potted plants. Ballanco will present two identical programs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, at the Covington Branch, 310 West 21 Ave. and from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, at the Folsom Branch, 82393 Railroad Ave.
Ballanco, a retired pediatrician from New Orleans, is a Master Gardener. He owns Ballanco Farms in Folsom where he grows and sells heirloom seedlings and vegetables.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available. Seating space is limited to adults. Registration is recommended by calling the Covington Branch at (985) 893-6280 or the Folsom Branch at (985) 796-9728 or online at register.stpl.us/evanced/lib/eventcalendar.asp.
