Learn to Grow Vegetables in Containers and Small Gardens
Dr. Gerald Ballanco will offer practical step-by-step instruction on growing fall and winter vegetables successfully in containers and small gardens at three St. Tammany Parish Library branches. The class will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, at the Slidell Library, 555 Robert Blvd., Slidell, 985-646-6470. The same program will be offered from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, at the Folsom Library, 82393 Railroad Ave., Folsom, 985-796-9728. Finally, Dr. Ballanco will speak from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, at the Causeway Library, 3457 Hwy. 190, Mandeville, 985-626-9779.
Ballanco states, “Fall gardening is straight forward and pleasant; the plants are hearty, the harvest is quick to come in and the rewards are often extended.”
Ballanco, a retired pediatrician from New Orleans, is a Master Gardener and owner of Ballanco Farms in Folsom where he grows and sells heirloom seedlings and vegetables. He is graciously sharing his knowledge and experience with the community in this program.
