Discover Gustave Flaubert’s Masterpiece “Madame Bovary”
Discussions led by Dr. Susan Blalock
COVINGTON-The novel “Madame Bovary,” published in the mid-19th century, is an exquisitely crafted tale of marital infidelity. It was popular in its own time and continues to be read today, over 250 years since its publication. Dr. Susan Blalock will lead discussions of the novel in a series of four meetings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, November 7, 14, 28, and December 5, at the St. Tammany Parish Library Covington Branch, 310 W. 21st Avenue, Covington.
Dr. Susan Blalock states, “This is a ‘must read’ on your bucket list!”
Program participants will borrow the library’s copies of the dual language (French—English) edition, translated by Eleanor Marx when they register for the program at the Covington Branch prior to November 7. Chapters 1 through 7 will be discussed at the first meeting.
The series is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available. Seating space is limited to 15 adults. Please call 985-893-6280-x120 for more information.
